Greenery Day, December 6th, Greensprings Natural Cemetery

Please join us for our most popular annual event:

9th Annual Greenery Day at Greensprings Natural Cemetery, Newfield, NY
Saturday December 6, 2014

Make your holiday greenery Green – take home a tree or some boughs from Greensprings Natural Cemetery as part of a project to clear non-native Norway spruce and restore grassland habitat.

These wild-grown trees will bring natural character to your holiday decorating. Our volunteers will drop the tree of your choice, and trim it to the length you need.

Dress warmly (wear boots and work gloves). Bring rope to secure your tree for the ride home.

Stay for hot drinks and snacks, and to enjoy the trails and views.

Donations for trees and greenery will be gratefully accepted.

Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve is located at 293 Irish Hill Road, Newfield NY. From Ithaca, take Rte. 13 south to Newfield. Turn left on Trumbull’s Corners Road. Make a right at the stop sign, Main Street. Bear left at Van Kirk Road. Continue south 4 miles. Where Van Kirk Road bends to the left, go straight onto Irish Hill Road. Continue 1.2 miles to Greensprings.

Greensprings is New York State’s first natural cemetery, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional cemeteries.

Greensprings: Renew. Sustain. Endure.
