FRESH-CUT CHRISTMAS TREES and GREENERY FREE FOR THE TAKING AT
GREENSPRINGS NATURAL CEMETERY
Ithaca, NY--Greensprings Natural Cemetery's primary mission is not purveyor of Christmas Greenery but once a year trees and wreath-makings are available to the public at the Cemetery's site atop Irish Hill Road in Newfield. This year, Greenery Day will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11-2 p.m. The public is invited to take home free fresh-cut trees and evergreen boughs (donations gladly accepted!)
Warm drinks and snacks and most important, holiday camaraderie, will be offered throughout the event. Greensprings Cemetery trustees and others knowledgeable about
the cemetery will be on hand to answer questions about their primary mission--natural burial.
Please note the trees are not the commercially available manicured kind but rather are wild Norway spruce, red and white pine. Some trees will be pre-cut but those who would prefer to select their own can ask volunteer sawyers on the premises to take the one they favor.
FYI, GPS is not reliable in the hills of Newfield so please visit naturalburial.org (the Greensprings web site) for specific directions and information about the cemetery.
